The Vintage Spotlight Interview with Leon on You Tube

Leon joined me and Jeremy Lee recently for an interview. We talked mainly about card collecting and eye appeal so I thought you might enjoy the episode.

Thx Leon!

Enjoyed watching! I'm one collector who would not want the 52 Mantle with the back like that. Now, for $1,000 I would take it. Minimal wrinkles don't bother me. Perfect centering is a must to me.

I'm the exact opposite. Wrinkles and creases are an immediate deal-killer for me. My eye always goes there first. I view the central subject as "the painting" while the borders and corners are just "the frame".

I guess that's what makes the hobby interesting... If we all had the same exact preferences, things would be far more boring!

To offer a third opinion:

Centering isn't that important to me, especially for pre-war cards. Wrinkles and creases are OK, so long as they don't cross the face. Give me a vibrant image with bold colors.I want the registration to be great - or - so bad that I'm looking for a pair 3-D glasses.

This was a great discussion. It was also great to see who won that unbelievable 1914 Cracker Jack Shoeless Joe PSA 1.5. What a card!
