Bad.

Looks slowly drawn, especially in the "ic" and "M" in Mantle. I'd definitely pass.

Thanks guys! My hunch was correct. This was a Christmas gift from my father in 1992, my collection has been in storage for about the past 10 years. Starting to get back into it as my kids are into baseball now, pulled out this ball the other night and felt that something looked off.

Unfortunately that time period was notorious for forgeries. Unless it was UD authenticated, Mantle were most likely bad. I knew nothing about autographs at that time and wound up with many bad Mantle, DiMaggio, and Williams forgeries. Forced me to learn about them. They make good balls for games of catch or for dogs to chase.

Are you going to keep it ? Considering you’ve had it for 33 years and your dad gave it to you - Reminds me of the Everybody loves Raymond episode .

I’m going to keep it for sentimental reasons, and put a little note with it explaining what it is and not genuine, but not going to put it on display when I get everything up and displayed again.
