Ebay Authentication.... This is Impressive!

I get yet another BOGUS return by the IMBECILES at ebay authentication. Because this was listed under trading cards and they say it isn't a trading card, I get nicked with a return. It is Pete Rose pictured on a piece of cardboard.... Hence trading card to me! FU Ebay Authentication! They have destroyed my ebay business! Over $100K in Bogus returns since they started that GENIUS program.

PSA graded item. *not eligible for PSA vault* is one of the funniest things ever.
That sucks Dan, buying rare stuff I'm always praying its authenticated because the people at eBay don't know what the items are. Heck, most hobbyists don't even venture past topps. So the kids at ebay verifying shiny football and basketball cards all day is almost a coin flip if they will do any research.

Christ I didn't even see that!!!!! What a Complete IDIOT that so called authenticator must be. PRICELESS!

I have no idea why they haven't implemented a "buyer aware of issue, buyer chooses to receive item" option.

This is a simple solution to a very annoying issue caused by categorization and I've heard complaints from both sellers and buyers...often both about the same cancelled sale.

Yes Will makes no logical sense.... I think they were supposed to just say they can't auth it cause of the category (And who cares about ebay authing it) and then sending it on. Or heck sometimes they will ask the buyer if he still wants it, this BIMBO didn't even do that! He/She was either not trained at all or just a complete IMBECILE.

Whatta you expect when you sell BOGUS stuff! :) :)

See my post from today where they authenticated a reprint card as being an original!!

Damn Good Point Freddie!

it sucks! I also think it should be OPTIONAL for the buyer. Adds a week and a half to get your item.

I'm pretty sure PSA is actually the one doing the authentication for ebay too.

Exhibitman 04-08-2025 06:42 PM

i heard that PSA does offer the buyer the option to accept delivery BUT I am not sure that applies to the vault. Still, the idea of PSA's vault not accepting a PSA item:

Oh, and the "set break" thing doesn't seem to work now. I actually broke a set with "set break" in the title and one of the cards still has to go to the dorks at PSA.

How does ebay decide whether to return the item to the seller or allow it to go through to the buyer? I bought a 5" x 7" baseball card that was "miscategorized" as a baseball card. Ebay sent it to me with apologies for not being able to authenticate it.

Paul this is the HUGE issue. I sold 3 Star Cal decals the same day to the same guy. All over $250 each so 3 separate packages to Ebay authentication. Here is the Funny part: 2 not authenticated due to wrong category but sent on to the buyer as they should be. The 3rd one was authenticated!

No Consistancy at all and what they did here with my Pete Rose was just STUPID! Either not authenticate it and the ask the buyer if he still wants it or just send it on.

And I am quite sure PSA vault accepts PSA graded cards.

It sounds like each authenticator does whatever they want to?

Danny—Bottling up those emotions inside is not good for you. Let them out, let us know how you really feel. 😂

Good point - seems to me to be an ideal solution for a number of issues on their Authentication Guaranty.
