Signed 1954 Topps Eddie Mathews opinion

Hi everyone,

I appreciate all the opinions I've gotten so far on my asks. I scooped this from ebay for about $60 yesterday, no certs. Despite the poor condition of the card, signed 54Ts (my favorite Mathews issue) slabbed/certed seem to go for much more.

While I feel like I've gotten pretty ok at Mathews considering I've noticed most of his suspicious items are on multi-signed pieces, most notably those awful forged 500 HR balls, I always get a bit nervous pulling the trigger for myself.

As for this one, despite the closed D's which are not quite as common but are seen from time to time, everything looks right. It's signed quickly and confidently, proper slant until his sig drops off at the end which is the first typical sign I look for. Forgeries are always too straight and not bouncy for lack of a better.

Sorry for the longer rant. I am doing my best at self teaching with the immense help of this board and other various sources. Did I get this one right or do I need to study some more?

My apologies for the poor image as this one the one supplied from the listing.

As always, thank you in advance!

-Joe

agreed Mathews looks ok. A tip on those multi signed 500 HR items the ONE signature the forgers simply CAN NOT get right is Harmon Killebrew. Let that one be the canary in the coal mine

Here's my canary, obtained in spring 1957 when Harmon was 20 years old.;)

Thank you both!

Nice Killebrew! Would like to add a clean sig on a playing days Topps card to the collection one day as well.
