Unable to make Paypal payment to the States today!
 

"The country you're trying to send money to can't receive this payment."

I'm getting the above Paypal message today trying to send money to the United States from my Paypal account linked to a Canadian bank. I've never encountered this problem previously. Has anyone else had this problem?

Interesting that I was able to send U.S.$78 to another person but I could not even send a reduced amount of U.S.$190 to the first individual.

That reads as if you were trying to send it directly to the US government.

I had encountered a similar error years ago when trying to send money to *some* Canadians via Paypal. I don't remember what the deal was, but it resolved itself eventually, although I seem to recall it didn't work for months.

Maybe just a glitch of some kind? Paypal has done weird things to me before. One time it randomly held up a small payment for weeks, while letting me do other transactions.

Yes, it was just a glitch - sort of. The recipient/seller evidently had the "Block all non-US accounts." box checked off in his account settings....

That was a misleading message you received. It should have read "Seller only accepts funds from US accounts"
