No Photos With B/S/T Listings - What Do You Think?

I know how I feel about it. How do you feel? To me, it's like going to a card show, and you come across a vendor's table with no cards, just a sign saying, "We'll get the cards out only if you're really serious. But if we get the cards out, and you decide to walk, Guido and his associates will escort you quietly to a spot off the floor and have a nice talk with you. You'll change your mind, and buy a card or 2."

Maybe I'm my usual over the top here. Maybe not. Unless you're technically challenged, I find it obnoxious to list some swanky, really nice cards with no pictures of what's being sold. Like you really don't want to sell, but if some loaded fool comes along, sure you'll sell. This is in the same boat with me as "listening to offers." Same thing. You don't really want to sell, but hey, if someone wants to cough up their life savings, sure, you'll sell.

I voted - it's ok, because I don't find it obnoxious. But, I move on.

If no picture I pass. Well unless it is something I really really want and then it is a 50-50 if I ask for pics. Me asking for pics has a lot to do with who the seller is. If I have bought from them before there is a way better chance I will ask for a picture.

When I do sell I always add picture(s). To me having to send pics to a bunch of mostly tire kickers seems way harder than just adding pictures to begin with.:)

It depends on the listing. I recently have been selling a lot of cards. For ones that I listed individually or in small groups, I included pictures. For large listings where I had 50+ cards listed, I listed each card and my opinion of it's grade and asked people to PM me an email address or cell number to send pictures to if they wanted to see something.

I agree with this (YMMV). If you're listing 500 cards for sale and most are $2-$9 each, there's not a lot of point in listing 500 pics along side. For some of Jay's listings, I'd just buy the cards sight unseen.

If you cant figure out how to post a few pics, I understand to a point. By the 5th sale item, one really should have figured it out by now. Otherwise all feels fishy or the seller seems incapable of completing transactions.

I'm a visual person so will never buy anything without an image. Way too easy to get burned.

I don't buy without good pictures. I like to know what I am considering buying. If a forum member had a card listed that interested me but, there were no pictures, I would send a PM and kindly ask for pictures.

When it comes to eBay, I won't buy without pictures. A lot of the time of time, I won't buy if there is no description by the seller.

Hi Jim,

No photos usually bugs me too and it would most likely stop me from buying.

By the way, I am the one who posted the listing and I have no clue how to put a photo on the Net54 site.

HOWEVER, in my follow up post, (which should have been there originally had I not forgotten to include it) I asked anyone interested in seeing scans to email me and I will send them the images.

Believe me I had no intention of ticking anyone off, but this is the only way I know how to list cards for sale so my options are limited and I would rather do it this way than no way at all.

Furthermore, when I feel it is time to let go of some of the cards I enjoyed having in my collection, I am excited to be able to pass them on to other collectors.

So, please bear with me ... or not.

Kind regards,

Hank

I will bear with you! It's just my hotheaded way of venting off steam. Apologies!

I will usually pass on BST items without a clean photo/scan. It's easy enough to ask for a picture if one isn't posted, but I figure why bother. If it's something I really want, then I might send a PM asking for photo/scan. If one cannot be provided, then it's a definite pass. Perhaps a choice should be "would you purchase an item from the BST without seeing a photo/scan?"

Making me ask you for pics is absurd. If you can’t make it as easy as humanly possible for me to give you my money, I’ll move onto the next guy who will.

I agree. Providing pictures is essential. And learning how to post pictures isn't nuclear physics. I certainly wasn't raised on personal computers but I picked up on both techniques within a month or two of joining my first discussion forum in 2000-01.

:)

Regardless of the item or how good the price is, if there's no photos I just automatically pass. I'm also not going spend my time to email asking for photos either, as I sometimes see requested. There's a million other collectibles out there to buy.

Just my $0.02.

So for a listing I had with about 200 cards (with prices and condition listed for each), are you all saying that you wouldn't consider buying anything because I didn't post pictures of every card in the listing and instead asked people to PM me if they wanted to see pictures? I had plenty of people ask for pictures and buy from me, but I'm wondering if I would have sold more if I did post pictures of everything.

Post some representative pictures of cards of each grade with a focus on the stars. If you're listing 200 cards, 12-15 pictures should do. Or you could do one scan with four to nine cards for each year. In any event it would be helpful to see what you consider VG and Ex.

:)

A and/or B and/or C and/or D None of the Above

D. None of the Above = I'm just being obnoxious, but

if I can't figure out how to post picture B, then C indicates that I must be obnoxious, which brings D into play.

I can't decide between A, that you are nuts and C, that it is not okay, because I don't know, James, if you are both nuts and obnoxious, which is possible I think,

So I would pick D, but that is not an option except in this post.:confused::confused:
