johnlenhardt 03-07-2025 04:31 PM

Damn...I just flushed one of those earlier today.

oldjudge 03-07-2025 04:40 PM

That's hilarious!

D. Bergin 03-07-2025 04:57 PM

Is that the most expensive "custom" card ever sold?

SyrNy1960 03-07-2025 05:01 PM

I hope the winners kid eats it 🤣

Lucas00 03-07-2025 06:11 PM

This is now the #2 craziest food sale ever.

Yes this sale was real. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a9e83f8174.jpg

"The Cheeto surged in popularity on social media platforms in late 2024."

Makes total sense..

Peter_Spaeth 03-07-2025 06:40 PM

It was probably altered to look like Charizard.:D

campyfan39 03-07-2025 07:18 PM

That is wild. Did they put some kind of protective coating on the Cheeto? Wouldn't it disintegrate over time? and what if it was dropped?

I can't believe what I just typed haha

BobbyStrawberry 03-07-2025 08:43 PM

Your responses are cracking me up! :D

Still a great bargain compared to the $6 million banana taped to the wall...

Those Cheeto doctors are at it again!!!

hammertime 03-08-2025 06:18 AM

I'll be honest I'm a little shocked Goldin even agreed to consign that. It's certainly getting them some free publicity though, I showed my wife and she already knew about it, which is highly unusual.

Goldin? It would shock me if he turned something DOWN

I prefer the term "nibbled".

gonefishin 03-08-2025 10:18 AM

I find the whole thing hilarious. What I don't find hilarious is the $87K paid for it! Is that for real?

Sure it is. New generation.

Bill77 03-08-2025 01:51 PM

I really need to watch what I eat from now on. I am certain I have probably eaten plenty of Pokemon Cheetos over the years. I could have been rich.

Watch it from both ends to see how it looks vs what you as the artist create

Beyond belief. The expression that some people have more money than brains was invented to describe stupidity that was a mere fraction of that exhibited by this purchase. What's sad is that it sets the bar higher for the pricing of other collectibles.

People spending that kind of money for this nonsense can afford to. It's likely a drop in the bucket.

OhioLawyerF5 03-08-2025 03:10 PM

We collect pictures of men on cardboard. I'm not sure we should be so reckless with our stones inside this glass house. ;)

JollyElm 03-08-2025 04:01 PM

In the grading process, regular cards will get penalized for having an insufficient amount of gloss remaining.

Will this one get downgraded if there's a less than ideal coating of 'cheetle' left.
(Yes, that's real! Look it up!) :D

ALBB 03-08-2025 04:20 PM

That's what I think. As it is with pearls, there should be a significant price differential between cultured cheetos and cheetos found in the wild.

LEHR 03-08-2025 04:34 PM

I'd personally be embarrassed to sell something like this. But I guess as long as the cash is rolling in that doesn't matter to most.

OhioLawyerF5 03-08-2025 05:04 PM

I'm more of a Cheese Puffs guy myself. And I have a whole bag that look just like Diglett. I'm rich!

Fred 03-08-2025 05:20 PM

I guess what TJ said about throwing stones at this in our little glass house of a hobby should be considered, but, holy crap. I'd rather have chosen a charity.

I'm still not believing this is an actual sale, I mean, really? It's not like a duct taped banana but still.

Republicaninmass 03-08-2025 07:46 PM

Psa graded tulip bulbs are next

I’d sell any Cheeto I can find for that price and not be the least bit embarrassed.

Yoda 03-09-2025 12:39 PM

free range Cheetos always command a significant premium.

Goldin is currently auctioning yet another Cheeto:

Jump in while the bidding is still low!

To augment my retirement, I had been adding aluminum (empty beer cans) to my investment portfolio. Now I'm thinking I should be buying bags of cheetos by the gross to find the next auction able gem.

That sound we hear is PT Barnum laughing hysterically from the afterlife.

Separately, has the Cheeto been authenticated? If this realizes a healthy hammer price, I envision a torrent of altered Cheetos coming to market in the near future.

At least the cheetos are fungible.
