Ebay "Report Item" needs improvement

I know this has been discussed before, but Ebay really needs to do a better job handling auctions that are reported with fakes/fraud.

I contacted the seller that the letter and photo were autopen signatures (Identical). Seller said they would sent it in for authentication. Seller sold it.

I reported the auction to ebay and provided them proof that the signature is an autopen signature.

I reported the auction at 8:06 am this morning. Received response no violation with auction at 8:29 am this morning.

UGH!

eBay is too busy terminating listings that aren't fake. I received an e-mail from eBay indicating that one of my listings was removed because eBay believed it was counterfeit. I appealed the removal, providing a link to the estate sale describing the provenance and a Beckett Authentication Services "Likely to Pass Full Authentication" quick opinion.

eBay responded with this:

Quote:

We reviewed your appeal of an action on your account. Upon further review, we’re unable to grant your appeal because the listings aren’t following our Counterfeit item policy. We removed this item to protect you and your buyers, because we believe it is likely to be counterfeit. To make this decision we consider the details you provided about your item, reports that we receive from brands or members of the community, buyer feedback or the reasons buyers returned the item. Please do not relist this item.
I'll end up paying the $400-600 to have the item authenticated and encapsulated now, but it baffles me that eBay went after my legitimate listing while ignoring countless autographs that are obvious counterfeits.

I suspect they are using AI to review these things, without any human looking at it. I've given up reporting fake listings because they never do anything about them.

Ebay protects sellers. This has long been true. It's true whether you use the report item or you speak to someone directly.
