T206 Al Burch batting - church ⛪️ in the background

Many, many years ago, my dad told me Brooklyn was called the “City of Churches”. I’m happy looking at the Al Burch card that came in the other day that a church is indeed represented on his card.

Yes, although it was no longer a city when that card was made.

Brooklyn was a city from 1830s until it was incorporated into NYC in 1898. Queens, Brooklyn, ceded area from Westchester County (the Bronx), Richmond were incorporated in 1898. (Yonkers and Mt Vernon voted against).

So, Brooklyn was part of NYC by the time the card was printed.
