1954 Bowman Ted Williams - look ok?

I just picked up a very nice consignment of cards that span the mid 50’s to the late 70’s. Some very nice gradable and valuable cards.

In the collection was this 54 Bowman Ted Williams which I know to be quite (relatively) rare.

Wondering how this looks to others? The card corners look a little unusually rounded and it’s obviously beat up overall.. if real, no number grade is coming to this baby.

My question - does this look like the real deal to you? For $15, I’ll let SGC professionals tell me too but I thought I might start here

To me in my non expert opinion is that it is ok. However, The reverse seems to have some gloss to me which is a concern.

Yikes, that card has been through the mill, and looks like a very real mill. I can't imagine how a fake card could get that beat up without showing signs of intentional wear and tear. Why worry about it?

I agree. The back of that card is totally wrong. It should not be glossy like that. If that card is real, then it has likely been covered with a glossy coating that shouldn't be there.

Are the whitish spots on the reverse gloss or wear?

Yeah, what some are seeing as "gloss," I think, is just the white inner part of the cardstock after the surface - both back and front - has been worn away. I don't see anything else on the reverse that looks like gloss. The card is just so beat up that the original surface is worn away in many places.
