Counterfeit 1933 Goudey question
Has anyone ever seen a counterfeit with a wet sheet transfer on the back? a little bit of the player's head and a decent red stripe at the bottom. Sorry I don't have images but more interested in a general answer than the specific card.

I haven't seen a fake one like that but have seen some oddities otherwise.

All the wet sheet transfer 1933 Goudey cards I have seen through the years have been authentic cards. Below are some WST examples for reference. Red is the color that seems most frequently seen to have transfered...a transfer of the bottom red advertising bar is actually present, even if just faintly, on the majority of the cards that have the bar. But as you can also see in my examples, WST on the dark blue background cards also seen, then to a much lesser degree on the other background color cards.

All of mine are either beat all to heck, or WST, or both. If they aren't WST or show some sort of lifetime wear and tear to some degree, or not smell old, or they fluoresce under a blacklight, or not look old school printing process under a loupe, they're fake to me and I would pass.

To the OP, I have also not seen fakes with wst. That would be next level as far as counterfeits go. |
