Mookie Betts -- is he underrated?

Anyone else think he's underrated? I think he might give Ohtani a run for his money for the best pure athlete in baseball.

11 seasons in -- he's got 3 WS rings, 1 MVP (and a batting title the same year), 8 All Star teams, 6 Gold Gloves, and led the majors in WAR in three seasons. At 70 WAR at age 32, I think he's got a chance to get to 100.

And I love how he hustles. I think he's a throwback.

In my opinion, he's the clear-cut, 1st ballot position player right now.

He does get some recognition .
He will crush 100 WAR - he could be right there with Ohtani - need more base runners in front of him

Yes.

Great player. He seems universally liked too.

A fantastic player. I'm not sure he's super-underrated though.

MLB has him at #5 in their top 100 list:

I think it is fair to put him behind Ohtani, Judge, Witt and Soto.

I'm still pissed the Red Sox let him get away. He was a phenomenal player, great in the locker room and loved by the fans. All that and the Red Sox ownership still went cheap. My blood pressure's going up just thinking about this.

Betts certainly would have been a better option than paying $140 mil to Trevor Story!

No. I can't think of anyone worse than him that is rated above him, so he isn't underrated. Probably would make the Hall if he retired today already, great player.

I’ll agree with Greg on this one. Mookie seems to get plenty of recognition and love for his accomplishments. With my luck, his run will continue for the next several years.

Kidding aside, the Red Sox have a damn good looking lineup right now, assuming Devers stops being a baby and agrees to DH when the time comes.
