Hi to all,

First new thread and I am interested in what the value of what a Mickey Mantle #300 HR ticket stub hit on July 4, 1960? Guy from an auction place said one stub Attachment 651339between $200 - $500, which seemed low to me. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to net 54.

Put one of them on ebay with a $1 starting bid and you will find out in 10 days what it's worth on ebay at that moment.

Here's a program from that game.

Good luck,
Doug

I'll try to be a little more helpful.

Though the ticket stubs for Mantle's 300th home run will generate interest (much more than the 300th home run for, say, a Musial, Frank Robinson, etc.), I think that has more to do with Mantle than No. 300. There are simply many Mantle and Yankees collectors, which generates demand. But honestly, 300 is a kind of arbitrary number. Yes, it's different than home run No. 299 or No. 301, but how much more different, because it's really just a nice, round number. It's not a major milestone (in my opinion) like home run No.1 or even No. 500, which has significance, or No. 536.

The estimate of $200-$500 you received is pretty broad. I agree $200 seems low, because, again, it's Mantle. But I'm not as sure that $500 is all that low. And yes, listing one on eBay will give you a better idea, but of course you'll have one less ticket stub in your possession.

Sorry I don't have a program to post.

As Usual I agree with Doug. There are alot of Mantle collectors on Ebay and a single ticket should bring top dollar.

IMHO, it should also be noted that dated tickets to Washington Senators are more scarce than other teams. ;)
That being said, this particular game was played on July 4th and there were nearly 17,000 fans in attendance...
I've collected baseball tickets for over 50 years.

Thank you for all the input. I’m great at collecting and terrible with selling them. Anything Mantle I just catalog and put it away but I appreciate the info if I ever do part with one.
