MLB umps in minors during '94-'95 strike?
1 Attachment(s)
I won this Michael Jordan signed baseball at auction, which was owned by former MLB ump Ken Kaiser prior to his death in 2017. It came with his hat (signed by him inside) and business card as part of the provenance.
I'd like to figure out when it was most likely that Kaiser called an MJ game -- whether at the end of the '94 Birmingham Barons season, '94 Arizona Fall League, or spring training in '95. I'd appreciate any insight into how the umps might've filtered down to the minors -- if that happened at all -- once the gates closed in August '94. Thank you! |
I think spring training 94 is most likely. Didn't Jordan walk away from baseball in March 95 before any spring games?

Kaiser would have definitely worked spring training games in 94 when Jordan was in camp. |
Thanks for the info, Mike!

Veteran umpires didn't/don't work fall league games. I think you'd be safe in scratching that possibility off your list.

Thanks, Bill!

My wife's cousins' husband was a minor league umpire for a while the 90's. He now has a dream job with the Boston Red Sox. Here's more about him. His name is Kevin O'Connor.
