Prewar cards picturing squatting players with hands on knees...show us yours.

George, your sea legs dream has just been realized. I have pasted your post that was accidently posted on another thread to this newly created thread, and kneecaps being held in place by helping hands are now rejoicing throughout the land that their kind are finally being recognized. Nice Old Judge mini-set theme, now let's see other similar squatting accumulations from this or any other prewar set. Or just a single example, or multiple examples from various sets. On this thread the world is truly your kneecaps! Brian |
Thanks Brian. You da man! And a specialized mini-subset expanded to three: 1887 Al Myers Hands on Knees -- One-hand-on-each-knee Division.

I have some others that are close (e.g. Delong Chick Hafey) but both hands are not actually touching the knees (as they are here in these examples).

Definitely counts. Seems the hands-on-knees pose came to be viewed as unappealing around 1912. After that, all of the hands-at-ready poses do not involve hand-to-knee contact. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f8b619494f.jpg

I can't speculate on the latest example, but Diamond Stars #2 Al Simmons has both hands on his knees (I do not own the card so I am not posting it). Also found 1967 Kahn's Wieners Lee May https://www.psacard.com/cardfacts/ba...ds-knees/47303. I am not counting the 2018 Topps Archives #202 Ernie Banks Hands on Knees because it uses an earlier undated photo.

As seen in this 1911 Zeenut, LaLonge ducked down just enough to avoid having his head trimmed off.
