1950-1970 MacGregor Willie Mays
 

I recently picked up a raw 1950-1970 MacGregor Willie Mays as I continue to work on the PSA Mays Master set and noticed something. There appears to be a variant for Mays that I don't see recognized on TCDB or other websites.

The difference between these two appears to be an airbrushed hat/jersey, small changes in the glove itself (maybe a different model?), the MacGregor logo present on the NY Giants variation, and very small differences in how the photo is cropped.

I bought the NY Giants cap version, not realizing there was a difference. What's the best way forward? Should I request to PSA to recognize these variants?

Nice catch. I hadn't previously noticed the difference. Looking through the copies that I have, it looks like I have both variations as well.

You can certainly request PSA to recognize both variations. Whether they will recognize them or not is usually a toss-up. Sometimes they will, and often they won't. But good luck with your petition.
