Anyone want to play fantasy baseball?

We are a long running league and I have 2 openings this year. We have many knowledgeable and expert owners who have come from this forum. The league details are this:

6 batting and pitching categories
Roster sizes are 28
1 catcher spot and 2 utilities
2 franchise players allowed
Slow extended draft over 2 weeks
12 team mixed (Al/NL)
Dues 125.00 a year (top 6 teams play free following year)
CBS is the platform and it’s a commissioner paid site
Lineups lock daily 5 minutes before each game

Looking to be challenged?? This will be your league and it won’t break the bank and it’s very fun and competitive. You can PM me and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have or discuss in the phone.

Hello. There is a slight possibility I may be interested. I am posting rather than a pm as this may help others that may want to join.

Roster size is 28.......how many active and how many on reserve. How do injury replacements work?

Categories......what are they? For batting I assume Ave., Runs, HR, RBI, and SB.......Pitching I assume Wins, Era, Whip, K's, and Saves? Is this accurate, and what others?

What players are already taken as franchised? Does the new team get to select 2 players so all teams are equal going into the draft or will the new team be taking over another team and already has two franchised players?

How is the draft done over a 2 week period?

I will let you know if I have any other questions.

Thanks,
Bob

A few more questions:

How is Ohtani drafted? As a player that can be switched back and forth or can he be drafted twice.....once as a pitcher and once as a hitter?

How is position eligibility determined? Strictly by the CBS site? Or can a player that CBS shows only at Second base but projected to be the starter at Shortstop be eligible at SS.
What is the minimum number of games for eligibility?

What is the number of hitters and pitchers? How many Starting Pitchers, and how many closers?

Are the outfielders at any OF position? Or do they need to be Left / Center / and Right?

What is the trade policy? What if 2 friends decide to make a lopsided trade. Is there a commissioner that can veto a trade? What if the Commissioner is one making a questionable trade? Is there a panel of owners that can vote a trade down?

How is prize money distributed?

Thanks again,
Bob

Roster size is 28.......how many active and how many on reserve. How do injury replacements work?… 24 are active with 14 batters and 10 pitchers. The bench are 4 players and it can be any combination of pitchers and batters

Categories......what are they? For batting I assume Ave., Runs, HR, RBI, and SB.......Pitching I assume Wins, Era, Whip, K's, and Saves? Is this accurate, and what others? Average is too much luck.. We go with OPS, HR, RBI, R, SB, and a custom category of walks/si bikes as first base is the hardest base to reach (moneyball). Pitching we do t just use wins, as again too much luck.. we go with wins/quality starts as 1 category. Then era, whip, k’s, saves/holds (one category) and ratio for strikeouts to walks. Not strikeouts per 9 innings.

What players are already taken as franchised? Does the new team get to select 2 players so all teams are equal going into the draft or will the new team be taking over another team and already has two franchised players?

Our protections, won’t be posted until Feb 28th so it’s hard to speculate on what teams are gonna do. I will tell you most likely there will be 4 teams starting fresh… definitely a great year to start out and you will be able to build your team and even contend as we make it very competitive each year and our rules won’t allow teams to hoard players.

How is the draft done over a 2 week period? We draft twice a day with “tee” times the same so you can plan your day and draft. You can use auto pilot if need be. We just do 2 picks a day during the week. We do one pick Friday morning and then start back up on Sunday afternoon for one pick. The first and last day of draft we do 3 picks. We don’t use a timer but you have 30 minutes to make your pick during your tee time and we ask you pick before that time is up.

I will let you know if I have any other questions.

Thanks,
Bob

I’m responding after your questions in the quote…

How is Ohtani drafted? As a player that can be switched back and forth…l THATS A BIG HARD NO! Not fair and we voted to not allow this which passed 11-1. or can he be drafted twice.....once as a pitcher and once as a hitter? If you join the league, there is an active vote you can vote on for Ohtani. It’s either draft him and declare how he will be for entire season or make Ohtani 2 players as each a batter and pitcher. Last year it didn’t matter as he didn’t pitch.

How is position eligibility determined? Strictly by the CBS site? Or can a player that CBS shows only at Second base but projected to be the starter at Shortstop be eligible at SS. We go by CBS positions, but we have it set where they qualify for that position with only 5 games played and not 20 which some leagues do…. That’s for both the draft and regular season.
What is the minimum number of games for eligibility? 5

What is the number of hitters and pitchers? How many Starting Pitchers, and how many closers? 14 batters and 10 pitchers…. 4 bench used any way. Our roster requirements says you must have every position filled and for pitchers it’s anywhere from 10-14 depending on how you use your bench. Plus we only allow up to 5 true relief pitchers in your team. We go by what their active role is for the club since nowadays most pitchers have dual eligibility. We have an innings minimum as well of 1250 and batting 3500 as we make sure we don’t have any owners “buck the system” With questionable tactics.

Are the outfielders at any OF position? Or do they need to be Left / Center / and Right? Just OF and we start 5 of them. An outfielder is an outfielder.

What is the trade policy? What if 2 friends decide to make a lopsided trade. Is there a commissioner that can veto a trade? What if the Commissioner is one making a questionable trade? Is there a panel of owners that can vote a trade down? Great question which we solved over a decade ago.. even though we are a trading league, we don’t see many trades. What you are referring to is the dreaded collusion word which will destroy a league quicker than quick. We have one day voting and if 3 or less vetoes the trade passes. If a 4th veto then we use roto umpire (a paid unbiased site) to make the final ruling. 5 vetoes and the trade is dead and gone. The league has many veteran owners who have a lot of experience and they are all good people. We don’t have any alignances as we all want to kick each other’s butt and we the total of Legends Champion. Owners have come from net54, blowout, word of mouth, and other leagues. Most owners are in different states.

How is prize money distributed? I use cash app, or PayPal. Payout I do normally the day after regular season is over unless there is a make up game. We do not count play in games as that would be unfair. We also have a league constitution that has all this in writ8ng and easy to refer to. Love the questions and I can tell you know fantasy…. Other detailed info is we allow the owner from first to worst to choose their draft spot. New owners will be determined by a coin flip done by the co commissioner of the league on video and sent out on the league group text. He is a Pastor and one heck of a good team owner. Also, if a commissioners team or co commissioners team is involved then we can have other members be involved for any ruling. We make this league hard but fair and try to be the Masters of Fantasy but without breaking the bank like the NFBC leagues would do.

Thanks again,
Bob

Thanks for asking..

Here are screen shots from last years draft.. Teams 3 and 6 are out. It wouldn’t surprise me if teams 1,2,and 4 all threw back and started fresh.. So, you can get an idea of how the draft pool will be, which will be very good this year. Plus, the teams protecting can only keep up to 5 players on their team…

Unfortunately, I will not be able to join this year. The main things for me are the draft being over a period of time and the daily moves. I do not have the time to participate this year.
thanks and I sure hope you get the spots filled.
Thanks,
Bob

Still looking for an owner…. I know it’s early, but I want to have league filled by mid February. It’s a great fun league that’s long running. Many good members from here play in it
