Brockelman Auction Contest with prewar and vintage card prizes - Ends Saturday 2/1

4 Attachment(s)
The Brockelman Auction contest is back again for the auction that ends this Saturday, and you have the chance to score some vintage cards as seen in the scans at the bottom of this post.

The auction: http://www.brockelmanauctions.com/catalog.aspx

This time the contest will consist of three categories, all concerning cards that I consigned to the auction. The group of lot numbers to pick from for each category will be listed below, but the 'Search' function on the Brockelman website (specifically utilizing the 'Title and Description' option) will be vital to identify and easily view the pool of possible lots for you to formulate your answers. The contest's three categories:

Category A: There are 50 lots (within lot # range 1-500) with the word "different" in either the title or description. They are as follows:

18
26
27
48
51
53
73
79
80
83
85
103
126
232
262
292
293
311
313
314
315
322
323
324
328
335
343
346
347
349
351
356
370
371
377
378
380
382
384
389
415
417
425
427
431
432
434
439
449
452

Pick the 10 lot #'s from those seen above that you think I consigned.

Category B: There are 11 lots with the word "Zeenut" in either the title or description:

9
38
39
51
52
54
56
57
58
62
63

Pick the 5 lot #'s from those shown directly above that you think I consigned.

Category C: There are 13 lots with the word "Wheaties" in the title or description:

65
76
76
312
313
314
315
316
317
318
319
555
718

Pick the 3 lot #'s from those shown directly above that you think I consigned.

An example of your guesses and formatting of guesses would be as follows:

1) 21, 81, 117, 185, 244, 306, 333, 402, 429, 477

2) 25, 43, 82, 197, 642

3) 42, 248, 854

Every single lot listed in the above example contest entry would be incorrect, because those lots are not from the lots listed in each category.

DON'T FORGET - Utilize the 'Search' feature on the Brockelman Auction website, and the 'Title and Description' option to easily view all lots involved for each of the three categories.

The winner will be the person who identifies the most correctly, and in case of a tie, the guesser who guessed first wins.

Two groups of guesses are allowed for each contestant, but no edits of your post(s) are allowed. All guesses need to be posted by 9pm EST on Saturday, February 1st, the same night that the auction closes.

The prize is as follows: The top guesser gets his choice of 1 card from cards shown (front and back) in the first two scans, AND 2 cards from those seen in the third and fourth scans.

The runner-up guesser will get 1 card of his choice from the 3rd/4th scans, after the top winner has made his choices.

Good Luck!

Brian

Not only has nat currently nailed down the top winner spot, he also formatted his answers in an easily digestible format, and shot out his two sets of guesses as is allowed by Net54 Brockelman Contest by Brian law.

Thanks nat, and now it is everyone else's turn to have some auction scouring fun.

Hey Guys -

I thought I'd bump Brian's contest to the top. Entering only takes a minute and if I know this crowd, y'all are going to browse the Brockleman listings anyway. Might as well snag some free cards while you're at it.

If no more entries, nat and nebboy (just a question of the positioning) will be crowned the final Brockelman contest winners. As nat so graciously indicated in the previous post, might as well spice up your auction once over twice and slap down some guesses...remember, this hobby should be fun, and fun can entail a contest entry or two.

Tomorrow at 9pm EST is the deadline for all entries. You, and only you, can prevent the demise of the Brockelman Auction contest. As a reminder, this contest is not affiliated with Brockelman Auctions, and they will get along fine without my contest. So there!

Many thanks to Brian for running his contests for my auctions. While it is no secret that he is and has been a longtime consignor. These contests are all his doing and I greatly appreciate the added attention it gives the auction.

Good luck to the contest participants!

Scott

brianp-beme 02-02-2025 12:00 PM

Here are the winners of the Brockelman Auction contest:

Grand prize (1 card from the first set of scans, 2 cards from the second set):

nebboy with 12 correct from one group of his answers.

Runner-Up (1 card from second set of scans, after the Grand Prize winner has made his selection):

nat with 11 correct from one group of his answers.

And just to point out, two other participants ended up with 10 correct (rpz2 and bnorth), so it was a close battle.

I will contact the winners shortly, and thanks for participating, and if I do this again I will try figure out a way to get more folks to join in on the fun (perhaps not having people search through so many lots...to be a thorough contestant, you had to consider 74 lots for the 3 groups of answers!). Also might upscale the potential prizes.
