Spalding's Pocket Base Ball Score Book No. 2

Picked this up in White Planes show for $20. Thought it was pretty cool.
Anyone seen one before, or have a clue what games this dude was scoring 120 year ago? Dutchneck? Othello? |
Looks like towns in New Jersey.

Nice pickup, especially for the price! I do not have that one and I cannot recall seeing it before. I have two from the 1860s/70s (one is a Wilbur and Hastings version and the other is a Peck and Snyder). Have you tried researching the teams? I see you wrote they are towns in NJ, but were they high school teams or made up of older players?
Items like this (especially for that price) are why memorabilia is way more interesting to me than cards ever will be. There is so much more to explore and research when it comes to memorabilia. Alan |
Agree! Will let you know if I learn more.

Good luck with the research. I live in NJ but I am not aware of these towns.
I have a No. 2 from 1904 scored with games from Southern California teams in the Vista, Buena, San Luis Rey, San Marcos and Oceanside area, and a No. 4 from 1907 scored with games from the entire Colgate University baseball season (or I may have sold that one long ago, I am not home now to check). |
Springtown, Dutch Neck, Othello and Vista are all towns in Cumberland County NJ
