Who is Bill Fisher? W514
Shows up as card number 27 in the W514 Strip Card set as a pitcher for the Philadelphia Quakers of the NL.
Trouble is no such guy ever pitched for them in 1919 thru 1921 the years designated for the set. Closest mention of a Fisher around this time was a guy who has 3 decisions for a Minor league team in Akron OH in 1930 that I cannot verify as the same guy. Anyone out there tie up these loose ends? There was a fair headed fella who played for Pittsburgh till 1917 but then to the minors - Probably not him but it’s interesting that the player on the card is holding a catchers mitt

That does look like a catchers mitt on his hand.

That BBR pic looks a lot like the guy on the W514.
I’d be inclined to believe this is indeed William Fischer, catcher misidentified. |

How about “Nic” Carter, who was actually Paul Carter, but known as Nick.

Considering they hadn't been the Quakers since 1889 why would anything else be accurate? Gotta love strip cards!
