National Hotels outside the immediate area

Well, I apparently waited way too long to book a hotel room near the convention center, so any recommendation on hotels that are close but outside the immediate area? I'm not sure if I'll have a car so any comments on transportation to/from the convention center (trains/buses/long walks on the beach?) would also be appreciated.

I recommend not getting a hotel. Last time it was in Chicago, we rented a Vrbo about 5 minutes away in a nice residential neighborhood with easy access to the interstate. And all for less than any cheap hotel in the area. It's the way to go. Use the money you save to rent a car or Uber.

I recommend staying in Schiller Park. See you in Chicago, Rich. Attachment 646155

There are plenty of hotels in Schaumburg, about 15 min. west. Easy Uber ride if you don’t have a car.

There are a number of hotels up River Rd. The convention center is on North River Rd. Heading north, just after Rte 90 and Devon Rd it becomes South River Rd. Go figure. There is a Hampton Inn, Westin and Marriott. Just after the Rivers Casino there is a Courtyard and Hilton Garden Inn. The HGI has a free shuttle that will take you to the convention center. When I stayed there in the past a lot of attendees used the shuttle. They will also pick up at the end of the day if you call the hotel. If you need your car and want to drive, the Rosemont C.T.A. subway station is about 1/3 mile north of the convention center and a very easy walk. Parking is $7.00 for 14 hours, $9 for 14-18 hours. It is highly unlikely you would be there for more than 14 hours. If you stayed at one of the hotels across from the convention center and did not want to pay the high fee you can make long term online reservations (2 days or more) for $11/day, but that is with leaving the car there. Many people use google maps. I like Bing.com/maps. It shows all of the hotels and had good hyperlinks for them.
