unhappy with auction house

I recently had my first experience with Hindman auctions. They had one item I wanted. It was worth maybe 500 but I really needed it so I max bid 1000. Bid stayed at 200 till last minute and sold for 900 (So I won by one bid). Seemed possible but hard to say if any shills taking place
Then they tell you they do not ship unless it is jewelry. It is 2 baseball cards. they said they work with two shippers and gave me their numbers. The first didnt answer. the 2nd did and to ship 2 baseball cards NOT insured USPS they charged me $110 (their cost on the box that arrived was 7.50).
Glad I got the card but just a heads up to you folks

Do auction houses have any kind of back end audits? I would personally like to know that as well.

This note in the conditions of sale is wild:

Hindman has several salerooms throughout the country and the
location of sales, or individual items may vary. It is important to check with our
website and be aware of where each lot is located, for both viewing and for
shipping.

So they are essentially pickup only for an online auction and where you pick... that's a coin flip...
