ONE only. Dream gift ud love

This can be cards or anything
You can only have ONE dream item
This is tough.

For me, a decent Babe Ruth authentic signature on anything.

So hard to pick:rolleyes:

brunswickreeves 12-14-2024 06:08 AM

Limiting to baseball collectibles, and attainable(ish), a Babe Ruth game used bat would be astounding.

bmattioli 12-14-2024 06:20 AM

I'd love a '52 Topps Mantle..

Snapolit1 12-14-2024 06:34 AM

Gehrig signed 1923 contract.

jingram058 12-14-2024 06:44 AM

An official American League 1927 ball with Babe Ruth's signature on the sweet spot. Wow.

vintagebaseballcardguy 12-14-2024 06:48 AM

Usually I'd wish for a '54 Wilson Franks Ted Williams. Right now, however, I'd wish for a T206 Plank.

My "dream card" is somewhat attainable. As in, I'm probably going to get one some day.

For years, I've wanted a T206 with a Lash's Bitters multi-strike back.

1917 Ruth

Exhibitman 12-14-2024 07:20 AM

Anything, hmm...World peace? A cure for cancer? To be me but 30 years old?

Sticking to cards, one of every card ever made, but I am not a greedy man, so call it a T206 Wagner. Say about a nice 5-6 grade.

Memorabilia: a Babe Ruth gamer ought to fit the bill, the one he used to hit #60.

cubman1941 12-14-2024 09:11 AM

A Cap Anson N173 Cabinet or 1888 A&G either one - PSA8 - I'm not greedy!!

I'm changing my answer. After Mr. Lewis gets his Texas Tommy Shoeless he gives it to me for Christmas next year.

52 topps Mantle. Then I could spend the next decade of my life slowly putting the set together! What fun that would be

You may have something there, but Robinson, Mays, Mathews and Wilhelm would dissuade me.

Rich Falvo 12-14-2024 08:20 PM

A T206 Drum back for my Providence set.

Second would be a nice mid-grade 1954 Bowman Ted Williams. I'll get a low grade version of this someday.

I know, this card most likely doesn't exist. But one can hope!:D

1916 M101-4 Sporting News Ad Back Ruth.
I'd settle for a Joe Jackson though.

fkm_bky 12-15-2024 06:42 AM

A nice but basic waterfront cabin on the Green Bay side of Door County, WI.

For cards, easy...a T206 Wags.

Bill

LEHR 12-15-2024 08:26 AM

I'll play...

Sticking to things that are actually attainable:

Non-sports related: I'd like a MINT 1957 Dodge Sierra or Suburban Station Wagon.

Sports related: I'd like a high-grade 1933 OPC hockey set.

Go to a UGA - Fl college football game

A M.I.B Mad Mad Mad Scientist Laboratory!

I made the biggest score of my young life on a family trip to Detroit to visit relatives in the summer of 1964. I got my father to buy me a Mad Mad Mad Scientist Laboratory at a hobby shop on the north side of Seven Mile Road just west of the Southfield Expressway!

Box art by the legendary Mort Kunstler!

https://hosting.photobucket.com/85c5...e0d00e4424.jpg

My two best buddies were more than eager to be my demented half-brained lab assistants and enthusiastically fetched tap water for me while I mixed the concoctions.

I believe my father gave it away to the snot nosed kid down the street when I went off to a boarding school in Kennebunkport, Maine for grade nine in September 1965. Very sad. I've wanted another one badly for decades now.

:(

raineybt 12-15-2024 10:41 AM

One of the items I remember from the only National I went to as a kid - 1912 L1 Leather Walter Johnson. Happy to know the top of the ~15 or so grail cards I can imagine, I have an outside shot at one day acquiring.

ValKehl 12-15-2024 10:58 AM

My modest wish is for one card of Sam Rice that I don't already have (i.e., not an upgrade), which is something that I haven't been able to achieve during 2024. If I can have my druthers, it would be his 1922 Witmor Candy Type 2 card (has vertical back). The only example of this card listed in the pop reports is a PSA 1, but I'd be thrilled to obtain it, despite its condition.

Every board needs a mad scientist. My dream card is the E107 RC of Matty. Such an elegant pose, white tie and all. Once had one (sob). Long gone.

Hobby wish: That our cardboard pastime wasn't rife with scumbaggery and that my title to the Benjamin Falk Matty cabinet was not clouded by the fact that it was stolen from the Hall of Fame.

Real-life wish: A cure for Alzheimer's.

Even the richiest of rich-niks can not afford some cards on folk's wish lists (such as Val's), because either these cards possibly are not currently known to exist, or are buried in collections so deep it would take a cardboard excavation crew multiple overtime shifts to bring them to the surface.

Similar cards on my list. Mainly, an early Ruth with him still on the Red Sox and some early Joe Jackson.

this is my favorite answer so far.

it sounds like my wife's easy bake oven story. she wanted one forever, but her dad lost his job for multiple years (Kaiser Aluminum Lockout...wikipedia it.... new owner purposefully bought the company for union busting). she finally got one her junior or senior year of high school, but didn't have time to play with it due to varsity basketball. season ended, she eagerly looked for her easy bake oven during spring break, but her mom had cleaned house and given it away! my mom-in-law was shocked by the real tears my wife shed.

E300 Plow’s Candy Hal Chase. I’ve never even seen a scan of it. The last card I’d collect if I could find it.

I meant it as sarcasm—of course it is a tough time for many. Honestly we are all fortunate to have funds for the vintage hobby, regardless of how much those funds are

Mint-in-Box Kenner Easy-Bake Ovens from 20-25 years ago aren't tough to find though. Surprise your wife with one at Xmas or on her birthday!
