My first article as a contributor to SABR's Baseball Cards Research Committee live!

https://sabrbaseballcards.blog/

I will be writing about everything from Negro Leagues history, deep vintage baseball, philosophy, the color and craft of cards; strip cards, the sociology and economics of cards, you name it. Come join us over there if and when you do so please! It should be a fun journey deep into the vision and dream of the game. The second is on its way to print shortly!

What an eloquent writeup-very enjoyable and well articulated! My favorite part:
‘…creates the community of the collective memory and trade.’

As a kid I spent countless hours that turned into years with my brother buying, organizing, and trading our cards…that time was true gold. As adults we’ve tapped back into that unbridled joy, now meeting up for card shows. Some of the most authentic friendships I have are with Net54 members and one amazing card dealer in particular.

The stewardship and care our community takes with their own collections and also earnestly helping friends/family who have zero clue about their family’s card’s value-because it’s the right thing to do, shines a bright light on humanity.

And on really hard days, one can look upon their collection or even just one card and be immediately filled with gratitude and happiness.

Every post needs a card…this is the 1st Baseball card I ever bought…have held onto for nostalgia all these years.

i love your response; thank you a lot for sharing. i'm here for tapping back into it too as adults; i hope to meet and get to know you guys a bit. new to the forum! its important to be responsible to one another - that's truly the foundation of meaningful community; cards can really be such a great way to gather and find, form, and make meaning. its powerful stuff!
