These look legit? DiMaggio, Aaron and Mays
4 Attachment(s)
I’m working with a friend to liquidate a bunch of signed memorabilia that he has from his dad who appears to have been quite the autograph hound as a kid and through his younger adult life.
None of it is authenticated so I’m trying to assess the likelihood that these look right - given the unusual items signed (these below are newspaper clippings that he took, copied and sent to dozens of players and former players and asked for signatures on the copies) I wouldn’t guess these are forgeries. But I’m a card guy so autographs are new to me. I dropped these same images on the FB “out or safe” page but haven’t heard anything - I thought I might ask the same question here. To experienced autograph members here, how do these 3 look to you? For context, this collection is in the dozens of autograph items and most are small name players, mostly Boston area but a few are HOFees like these. Thoughts? Thx for weighing in - and if I do get a reply on the Safe/Out page, I’ll report that back here too just for info. Jeff |
I’m interested to hear what folks have to say. I’m no expert (at all!), but as a Giants collector, I’ve seen a bunch of Mays autographs. This one just looks a bit “off” to me in the “Willie,” but on the other hand, the “smoothness” looks real good. Just my two cents. My opinion means nothing. Although I don’t trust the TPA’s at all, I guess their opinions do, when it comes to selling.
edit: that said, I’m going to say (guess) the Mays is good. |
Dimaggio genuine, a bit of a "leave me alone" IP signature but still good. Mays looks secretarial, Aaron is not even close.
