Early Advertisement for Baseball "Cards"

Hi-

I went to the Boston Antiquarian Book show this weekend and I had a great time seeing some incredible items. I picked up a catalog of sports items from one of the dealers (Between the Covers). In it they show an early magazine called Odds and Ends from 1878. There is an advertisement for "base ball cards" in the publication. The link to their catalog picturing the item is below.

I am guessing it refers to CDVs or trade cards but I figured I would post it for others to see. I have no comment about the price or the writeup. I just thought it was interesting.

I assume it refers to the H804-6 Forbes set of baseball-themed cards, which are often found with advertising on the front and/or the back, but are just as often found without advertising. They’re dated 1878 on the bottom.
