ebay -- no more feedback stars?
Sorry if repeat post. I just left feedback for a couple of items that came in this week and there was no place to leave stars, except for the item itself.
|
I'm tired of eBay's constant tinkering. We had an expression in the Navy, "If it isn't broken, don't fix it." That philosophy is lost out here in "the world".

As a buyer, the collected feedback/stars are of no importance to me, especially with high volume sellers. Move enough product and feedback looks better than it probably should if just using stars as your reference. I just read individual negative and neutral feedback if it appears there is enough cause for concern. If there's a pattern of repeated issues, I'll use that information before making a decision. Stars can go away.

Seems to me they must be tinkering with the layout of the feedback leaving page. Last night when I left feedback, the "optional" star rating portion was in a drop down you had to click on to reveal the items requiring star ratings. The OP didn't see the star items at all when he left feedback. I just now went to leave feedback and the "optional" items requiring star ratings have now been moved to the bottom of the page (below the text box where you actually type in feedback comments.) Previously the star options were near the top of the page before the text box. They were also no longer hidden behind a drop-down heading. So, who knows how this will actually end up looking.
On the bright side, perhaps the eBay evil genius squad will be distracted with this project for a while, and they will stop the insanity of continually and obsessively attempting to completely ruin their search function! |

I think the much better feature over the silly star system is the option for sellers to reply to feedback left for them. Some problematic sellers are so lowbrow and uneducated that they seem to relish any opportunity to dig their own graves with these replies! It's hilarious to see how many of them have long histories of absolving themselves of any responsibility, blaming anyone or anything else for their own litany of issues! ...and you can double my disinterest if the seller proves they have yet to master spelling, grammar or punctuation. Funny how these things always go hand in hand, isn't it?!
