Gehrig payroll check Goldin
Cool item and always wanted one, but the second signature on the back is a little odd. Can anyone explain why a payroll check to Gehrig would require a second signature? Or who the second signature might be?
(Maybe a bank manager type?) https://goldin.co/item/1925-lou-gehr...JkSW5kZXgiOjB9 |
Got to be related to the bank, maybe the teller. Maybe confirmation of who deposited it?
Very cool by the way. |
Would that be two weeks pay?

I think it could be that he endorsed it and exchanged it with the other signer for cash. Then that person deposited the check to their bank account. I'm pretty sure back then a bank would accept a double endorsed check, even if it wasn't specifically endorsed to the second party.

I'm reading that as "L. Balance". Could it rather be a note penned by a bank employee?
