1948 Team Issue or JD MCCARTHY?
The SGC has writing on the back but appears to have the same back. Are these different issues or mislabeled by one of the companies?
Thanks in advance https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...48889cd2d1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6216149da3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...94af342152.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e5e525cb21.jpg Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk |

Any idea on where that placement is on the SGC slab? Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk |
Don't want to state the obvious (in case it was already obvious and irrelevant to what you're asking), but the two pictured pieces are cropped entirely differently. For instance, the one on the left has a lot more of his body/uniform included, and the one on the right has a ton of additional head room above his noggin.

I think the SGC is mislabeled.....As well as I can remember, McCarthy only used his own photos for his postcards, whereas the Paige image is a "studio" type portrait taken by the Indians for the 1948 Picture pack set.
He also always had his name and address on the back....across the middle. |

The EKC on the back (psa) makes it easier to identify for the era, I think 1930-50, but can't see the sgc version due to the stamp Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk |
Was McCarthy even making photographs in 1948?
I think SGC goofed. The earliest McCarthy produced cards I have seen are mid 50's. Was he shooting photographs in 1948?

I agree the Paige is not a McCarthy postcard. But I do have McCarthy postcards at least as far back as 1949. These older ones are a little larger than a standard postcard.

Thanks Paul. It also seems that JDMs had facsimile sigs on them, at least the ones I have seen.
