Man O' War / Sir Barton ticket stub in Heritage
I'm not sure how many horse racing collectors are on Net54. I'm certainly not, but I am a fan of the history of racing at the turn on the century, when it ranked at the top of our country's most popular sports.
This ticket stub from the famed match race between Man O' War and Sir Barton in 1920 caught my eye. The final price of $3K-plus certainly surprised me, but then again that segment of collecting is foreign to me. The auction description says there are only seven in PSA's pop report. Whatever. Was this indeed a strong price? Anyone have any insight? https://sports.ha.com/itm/horse-raci...ription-071515 |
Don't collect or study Horse Racing tickets but 3 have sold on Ebay in the last 3 years, and all 3 in similar condition to the one at Heritage.
EBAY Feb 2024 - $2350 - PSA1 Oct 2023 - $655 - ungraded but the winner graded it and its the one that went at Heritage, so nice profit indeed. Feb 2023 - $1800 - no pix no mention of graded So inconclusion I'd say the one at Heritage went a little high, but about right, thus probably sold to a collector as opposed to a reseller......or it's a dumb reseller. |
Racing memorabilia
Collecting Horse Racing memorabilia has a strong following. Was stronger in years past, but still strong. I just picked up two nice pieces. I would have liked that piece too, but condition and price lowered my interest.
