That's hilarious, but actually kind of clever. He claims it was in a holder and went through a fire.

junkwaxhero 10-26-2024 04:22 PM

Due to it being slabbed in whatever that is, it’s ineligible for eBay’s AG program. Right?

jakebeckleyoldeagleeye 10-26-2024 04:37 PM

Just when you think you have seen it all this pops up.

Lucas00 10-26-2024 04:51 PM

The seller posted 3 youtube videos.

Here's the first, other 2 on the same channel. Along with some of the guys hilarious music.

Say this were real.....what do you do???

gunboat82 10-26-2024 05:58 PM

At least that has to go through authentication. This wouldn't.

Same seller also has “Authentic 100% original signed”
The card is copyrighted 1980

That fingernail went through the fire, too.

Fred 10-26-2024 07:15 PM

This is a new approach. Hey, there's a possible T206 Cobb with it! Unbelievable. Who ever buys it, deserves it and in my book, too bad. If you're stupid enough to bid on it, then you deserve to get ripped off.

I didn't read too much but I'm going to guess the seller is indicating "no returns".

Don't be cruel, guys!!
I, too, suffer from the unbearable pain and loss of having my most treasured card forever unreachable inside of a vicious, melted-plastic prison. The horror!!! The horror!!!

Did you microwave it or use an oven?

Photoshop, the seller on eBay had to have used an oven because it is a screwdown with screws still in it.

Hmmmm. So are you implying that there may be a credibility problem with this seller?

philliesfan 10-28-2024 12:50 PM

I wonder if he had that card insured and how much the insurance company paid out.

Kutcher55 10-28-2024 02:56 PM

This thread has the perfect title.

bmattioli 10-28-2024 04:18 PM

I would like to talk to the buyer and ask what are you thinking unless no money will be changing hands which is quite possible..

Leon 10-30-2024 04:25 PM

If I were a betting person, I would bet no money changes hands. Nice video that lets you get the whole spirit of the situation!

The only thing better would be the Babe's autograph on a Post-It note.

I got a nice response from the seller here, who told me that I shouldn't assume everyone is a "terrible person", before then calling me an idiot. Nice.

What would be even better would be if the seller is a member of Net54 and joins the discussion. Attachment 639279

Looks like somebody took an exemplar found online and tried printing it off on an old receipt with their home printer.
