Miss auction groupings
A few years back seemed like every major auction had lots of groupings of ungraded but decent cards from a set. 15 Leafs …… 9 CJs …… etc. A great way to jump start a run or a small collection from a given set. Don't seem to see so much anymore. My first big purchase way back when was a set of 35 1948 Leafs from REA. Such a cool purchase.

I agree. Miss that. I was thinking about building an E90-1 set, but almost every time they are at auction i have to track 20-30 different lots. No patience or money for that. A bunch go way higher than i want to pay, and then i look like i might get 1 or a few and i just dont bother.

Bulk lots are more and more challenging to find unless they are beater commons from early Topps or Bowman sets.
It looks like the AHs are looking at the $$ associated with individual cards. Why sell them in bulk when they can get good individual prices. It does make starting older sets a bit more difficult because back in the day you could get a bulk lot and then start piecing the set together. Different time in the hobby when people collected to collect. |
Amen
Sadly those days seem to be gone - as a buyer, I miss them. As a seller, maybe not so much, but there are trade-offs...
