Larry Macphail autographed ball?

Hi gang:

A friend is looking for an autographed Larry NOT Lee Macphail ball. I'd like to pick one up for him.

I am not an autograph guy so have no idea how hard it will be to find one. Any hints, suggestions etc. of where I could find one will be appreciated.

Please PM me

Thanks in advance for you help.

I feel like one was offered by an auction house not so long ago.

They're not common; expect prices to reflect that. But the first thing will be actually locating one. If it's a gift, let's just say it had better be a reeeeeaaaaalllly good friend! It's kind of like choosing between a MacPhail single or a very good, fairly new, reliable used car for a grandkid. Another thing to consider is that MacPhail was extremely prone to personalize on baseballs. So, unless your friend is also named "The Covington, KY Rotary Club", that might be something that gets in the way.

You may wish to try to convince your buddy to opt for something less lofty, as MacPhail autographs are certainly out there on much cheaper mediums. More like a weekly grocery budget for a healthy family of 3-4.

Appreciate the info. Do you recall what auction house had the ball you referenced? I'd like to look up the listing

This is going to be a very difficult task.

I'm so sorry, it escapes me. Perhaps check out Heritage's past auctions as an alternative.
