The World Series and the Impact on Vintage Cards

The Yankees will be facing the Dodgers in the World Series! This is gonna' be crazy! Judge vs. Ohtani !!

Here is my question: do you think this series will have an impact on vintage Yankees and Dodgers cards?

For example, let's say the Yankees win, then can you see Ruths, DiMaggios, Mantles, etc. going up in price?

I don't think so...after the WS is over typically card prices go dormant until the spring.

No Impact.

I agree probably no impact. But the offseason is usually a good time to buy modern if you want it.

As a Mets fan, I'm pretty sure the World Series was cancelled this year. It's officially football season now.

My 2 cents - there could be an impact for Ohtani cards if he turns into Mr. Rocktober during the series. Does anybody think that an Ohtani rookie wouldn't spike a little if he hit 8 HRs during the series and the Dodgers won because of his contribution?

Other than that - blah...

i totally agree that based on performance a current players cards could spike during the postseason. And then they'll likely drop going into the offseason.

Vintage, doubtful.

The two teams that are in the WS. Yes, but only for a very short window.

As a Mets fan, in light of the Ohtani 50/50 ball going for $4.4 million just a few days ago, all I wanna know is:
• Who got the Freddie Freeman grand slam ball from Game 1?
• What are the Dodgers gonna offer for it?
• How much is it gonna sell for at auction after the fan who got it turns down the Dodgers' lowball offer?

Yes, of course. This will be, by far, the most-watched baseball series of the past 50 years. It will have a positive impact on baseball card prices across the board because people who otherwise never watch it will be tuning in to baseball again. The question is how much? Fortunately, the answer is 'not very much at all'. The impact will be extremely small.

Ohtani looks like he might be out for a bit. Hopefully not the whole series.

I don’t know about vintage but the WS isn’t doing much for Judge’s cards 😂

It is painful to watch his ABs.

The next three games will be in New York and hopefully he can turn things around!
