Trivia:

Forgive me if I've posted this before:

What Major League Pitcher started the most career games and never even once appeared as a reliever?

.

Oddly the teammate of a pitcher who received Cy Young votes as a starter and as a reliever.

Is Scott's clue John Smoltz? If so I'll go Mad Dog.

I say Glavine. I saw Maddux relieve, although it may have been in a playoff game?

Has to be Glavine with that clue. My first thought was Mussina. I wonder where he is on the list. I don’t feel like he was ever a bullpen guy either.

It's pretty amazing pitchers who lasted that long would NEVER have been in a situation where a manager decided to bring them in to shut a door, to replace a starter knocked out very early, or whatever.

LOL...or a hockey player...

Glavine started 682 ballgames and never appeared in relief...although he pinch-hit and pinch-ran a few times.

And he worked in relief in 4 All Star games. Unofficial stat of course.
