1950 Baseball All-Stars Pin-Ups Book
5 Attachment(s)
I recently purchased one of these books and would like to submit the bigger names to PSA for grading. I have already removed the front and back covers and binding cleanly and just have the intact pages which are held together with two
grommets. I am not sure how to get the individual pages out without damage to the areas where the holes are, see below pics. Has anyone already done this before and can provide assistance? I have seen pin-ups in PSA holders which were removed with holes intact and those receive numerical grades. Others, I guess, the owner did not know how to remove them and cut in a straight line just before the holes to remove the pages from the book that way, these can only receive Authentic grades. Obviously, I would prefer the numerical grade. Thank you in advance for any assistance that anyone is able to provide here. |
The grommet heads should have been drilled off before removing the cover so as not to damage the top page. It might still be possible to do so without too much damage.. OR drill the back sides off on the back page, I don't recall who it is, but might not be one of the bigger $ ones and limit the loss.

Thanks for that info, Scott. Sounds like unfortunately for me, the top page is DiMaggio and the bottom page is Jackie Robinson, probably the two most valuable along with Ted Williams.

Just an update, I was successfully able to dismantle the book today, 9 out of 10 pages had virtually no damage. Unfortunately, the bottom page where the grommets were sealed was Jackie Robinson and suffered the most damage to one hole, other hole was fine. Should grade at least a 1 anyway, I hope.
