Help… vintage collector wants to add Ohtani card
I could use some advice - like most here, I am strictly a vintage collector
But I am so amazed by Ohtani that I want to break my own collector North Star and pick up a nice Ohtani card But I am so befuddled where to begin - if I am looking at maybe $250 for a budget, what would be a card you might suggest that I wouldn’t be disappointed in over time. Refractors and all of that are just so unknown to me. Appreciate the advice - Jeff |
I like the 2018 Topps Update #US285. It's a nice, classic photo, without all the weird graphics that you see in a lot of modern rookie cards. Designated a rookie card by Topps. They are not rare, but you can get them in a PSA10 for under $250 on eBay right now.
I also really, really like the 2013 BBM Rookie Edition #42 (available in both a batting version and a pitching version). This is Ohtani's first Japanese rookie card, which means it is his first card. You can find them ungraded for around $250 on eBay right now. |

Thx for the tip.. I decided to dive right and won an ebay auction last night (card was probably half the price 2 weeks ago 😂) but this one will look nice as my one/only modern card.
May pick a Pitching Card as a Dodger (if one exists) to be the bookend to this one. (Now, back to vintage…) |
Congrats on the nice pick up!
