N172 on ebay - from the OJ Bible

An N172 (OJ) sold on ebay (Sept 15, 2024) that appears to be a card that is shown in the OJ Bible.

The player is Tener. It'd be kind of cool to have the card because it's the card depicted in the OJ Bible. Well, at least it looks like the same card. Lots of little tell tale signs it is the same card.

The following is the link to the auction (now closed). I didn't want to out the card before the auction ended.

Check Jay's "Help With Old Judge White Whales" tread in the 19th Century BST and you can probably add one to your collection.

I've picked up a few for my personal collection. It is kinda neat seeing the exact card in a reference book as a secondary perk of ownership.

Beautiful card of the man who later became Governor of Pennsylvania.

Jay, agreed - that's a nice card of Tener!

Was this from your collection or one of the other authors of the OJ Bible?

I was underbidder on it. I don't need the card but it would have filled a hole in the pose run which I probably won't complete because I have too many other OJ priorities and I have no plans on robbing a bank anytime soon.

Fred--I honestly don't remember.

One of the things I enjoy most about this hobby is the history and provenance of specific cards.

When we did the book we tried to find the best looking copy of every pose that we could find. Obviously, not every copy pictured in the book is beautiful, but most of the time that reflects the rarity of the pose.
