Hope no one here won these Bond Bread cards

https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item...d-complete-set

$1200 plus hammer for the 24 cream colored backs that were discovered in bulk in the mid 1970's.

The originals can be square cornered but must be WHITE backed like the clipped corner variety.

Plus these 24 are not the complete set. Just the complete set of the remakes.

If they are remakes that were found in the mid 1970's

These cream colored back sets of 24 were selling for around $300 last I checked.

Havent got any those but have to admit I eyeball em on occasion. I need to start a file with known reprints and assorted fakies that sneak in with notes on their clues. Bet it becomes a lengthy volume pretty fast!

Dan, Jim here. I watched that auction. I couldn't believe what they sold for. I am very hesitant to bid on anything (such as exhibits, etc.) unless I can also see the backs of the cards. In this auction they didn't show the backs. Someone is going to disappointed. The bond bread, 48 exhibits, and other issues such as these, they are so easily counterfeited. One has to be extremely cautious.

I can guarantee these were the cream colored backs. 24 total of the 44 were made and they were the exact ones in this so called "Set".

Yea Jim I am scared to pull my 1948 exhibit set out and look at it. Acquired years ago but I may have been duped.

LiveAuctioneers sells tons of fakes. They use PSA letterhead and give a one or two sentence saying it's authentic. I believe they "authenticate" their own items in house. VERY sketchy website.

The company that sold the lot in question in this thread is “Eagles Corps International LLC” - not LiveAuctioneers.

LiveAuctioneers is just a platform that thousands of different auction companies use for their auctions. The majority of the auction companies are legit (Heritage, Hake’s, Sotheby’s, etc. all use LiveAuctioneers), but with any auction platform there will be some fake / counterfeit stuff sold on the platform by either a complete scam auction “company” or just an incompetent auction company that doesn’t know what they have.
