...I had 99 wins, 84 Complete Games, 26 Shutouts, A Rookie of the Year, A Cy Young, 3 other top 5 Cy Young finishes, 1274 K's, 2 Silver Sluggers and a World Series Ring. I fell off of the HOF ballot in just my second year of eligibility.

I'm sure this isn't very hard, but it does underscore the point; Don't get carried away with early success, especially with a pitcher.

I had 107 wins, 127 Complete Games, 1,233 Ks, Top 3 in MVP voting three straight seasons in which I also led the league in wins and strikeouts.

Then, I gave it all up...for a noble cause...

That has to be right, but Feller was only 22 at that point, remarkably.
