East Coast National 2024

This show gets a little heat, but I love it. I cannot make the national or any other big shows typically yearly so I look forward to this one as it’s relatively close to me. I’ll be there “early” Saturday morning, mainly to drop a submission off to SGC and browse for deals.

I’m anticipating a repeat of last year, elbow to elbow and mobbed. That’s why I want to get there early. I literally got the last parking spot in that lot outside around 930 am last year.

Pretty nice autograph line up this year. Wish I could make it. Rodney Hampton is a great free autograph.

Anyone know why Tyson refuses to sign cards?

Don’t know, I wanted to bring my Nintendo mike Tysons punch out game box and have him inscribe it “kid dynamite “ but no inscriptions either

I'll be there Saturday. I'll probably be showing up after doors open to avoid the lines. Looking forward to it though.

I always enjoy this show. Def a good idea to go Friday if you can. Def less crowded.

Definitely recommend. I expect strong attendance. Get there early.

Will be going either Friday or Saturday as it is an easy train ride.

Can the folks who are going mention what they will be bringing to sell?

Likewise, if you are looking for any trades, please let us know.

That would help a few of us decide when and if to go.

Don't know, but it reminds me of Artie Shaw, the big band leader. He couldn't understand why a human being would want another human being's signature. So if you sent him a pre-paid mailer to send back, he would send you a brief letter and a nice 8 x 10, both of which I have.

I'll be set up there

I will be nearer to the stage wearing my signature Clemente throwback Jersey. Buying, Selling and trading great vintage cards (all 4 sports and non sports) from 1880's-1980 (And a few select ones after that - think early Jordan's, etc). I will have some great new inventory - be sure to swing by to check it out! I will also be accepting select consignments (for private sale) - you can call or message ahead to discuss.
If nothing else, just stop by to introduce yourself or say hello "I'm from Net 54"!!

Usually have gone for the reunion autograph guests and remember getting my 1990 Giants football signed which was great. So so lineup this year (maybe because of Fanatics fest took a lot of guests away). I may try for Hofstra in October which is closer for me anyway.

Money. Some of his limited edition cards have a dramatic multiplier effect when signed and I think his business people don't want to allow that go on but haven't been able to figure out how to monetize it...yet. His Upper Deck Employee Exclusive Precious Metal Gems Purple /125 issue is a $5K card unsigned but Goldin got over $50K for one signed and slabbed. I'd hazard a guess that his people aren't about to let someone pay $500 and have an instant 100X-200X payday, so they are trying to figure out what price they can charge for which cards, which is not easy when it comes to a subject with a global base of card issues to choose from. Ultimately, I'd expect him to do some sort of private card signing deal with one of the big shot companies so that they can skim off a big chunk of the value added, the way Koufax does.

Ain't the 'hobby' fun??

I'll be there Friday and Saturday with a pocket full of cash to be spent (hopefully) on PENNANTS. So if you're setting up and have pennants, please bring them. Preferably football but all sports work.

As a fall back...Will be trying to complete my 1962 Post Football sent that's been about 80% complete for years now.

Jewish-collector 08-11-2024 09:20 AM

Rob - Does pennant dealer Rick Haskins set up there ?

Unfortunately not. Would be even more excited for the show if he did.

I'll have a BF2 Joe Jackson Pennant?

I think that's about for pennants for me.

My favorite Tyson item in the collection is a signed ball which he inscribed “44 KO - 0 HR”. :D I would pick that over a card every time. I have a shadow boxed 11x17 signed punch out picture with a Nintendo controller framed with it and a promo poster from the cartoon “Mike Tyson Mysteries” that was cast signed with Mike at SDCC.

…little bit of a fan, lol.

Snapolit1 08-13-2024 07:39 PM

Was recently thinking Tyson is one of the few people out there I would line up at a show and pay to get a photo with. He’s not exactly a role model for anyone, but he’s a survivor and a pretty huge cultural icon.
