Have you ever seen a more blatant trim job? 1953 Bowman color

Being a Red Schoendienst collector I am always on the lookout of anything posted. Just now a PSA 8 '53 Bowman color was posted. It is possibly the most obvious trim job I've ever seen. Not only the extreme slope on the top edge with no diamond cut but also the right side missing a good bit. How obvious did it have to be back in the day? I realize this was probably graded 20 years ago. But I saw it IMMEDIATELY with the naked eye. This card is TOUGH in high grade, the last 8 went over 1k. Just hope people who collect high grade 53 BC on n54 stay away from this one.

And my recently purchased upgrade 53, SGC 6. Which I'm super happy with (think it looks better than a 6). And its not trimmed! Yay.

Here's a beat up one with that same angle thing going on at the top.

This card is cut wrong in every possible way. Including diamond cut. Not comparable at all lol. It isn’t up for debate, the 8 is heavily trimmed. Ive seen this card more than anybody on planet earth. It is impossible to get that psa 8 cut without having the card being diamond cut. That’s like defying the laws of matter.

Not trying to start any arguments or ask for any opinions just letting folks know this is a altered card.

An awful lot of 8s have been helped.

Sorry if my last reply came across pointed. Not my intention.

No, not at all.

Looks like it is not in the altered card database - doesn't hurt to reach out to have it added: https://www.tiffanycards.com/contact

Wow, that's a super obvious trim job on that 1953 Bowman color card! I can see why you're warning others about it. It's great that you're sharing your expertise and looking out for the community. Congrats on your recent upgrade to an SGC 6 Red Schoendienst card, by the way!

I don't think it's trimmed it looks to me to be factory short mini sized. A lot of 53 Bowman Color's are small.

I should've explained in my op better why it's trimmed and not a factory cut. But I figured people understood better how cards were cut and how horizontal cuts don't magically remove extra material on one part of the blade.

Simply put, it is a perfectly square cut with a gap at the top. This is an impossibility. Unless the sheet cutter was to start the cut and then at the perfect time and angle for this single card on the sheet gradually cut it in this exact way (with their 3 foot long blade). You can't cut a card perfectly square and have a gap without the card having a diamond cut and seeing the exact offset created at the bottom border that would match up to the crooked cut. Their cuts are always perfectly horizontal even on diamond cut cards the card is still 90 degrees. This 53 bowman color psa 8 was cut perfectly from the factory. Somebody just trimmed it horribly.

Not to mention the right edge also being trimmed. We are talking odds that would make hitting the powerball look like a joke if these were factory errors. It's either that or it's trimmed.. Im sticking with trimmed.

Also, will show what a factory diamond cut looks like that isn't trimmed and has the borders matching up for the slightly bad cut on opposite edges. On my 52 topps

Not even in the top 100. Just look at pretty much every high graded T206. My favorite T206 is the Red Cobb with an Old Mill back. One of the higher graded ones has the smallest borders I have ever seen on a graded T206 and that is saying a lot.:)

I bought a large collection of raw 53-55 Bowmans many years ago....the differences in sizes and cuts was amazing.....those years come very large and small with strange cuts.....not saying your example was not trimmed

1, the psa 8 isn't mine.
2, I've already explained how it is trimmed. If you are going to comment on this thread please read the replies first.

I'll stop replying to it now and just leave it for viewing as I meant to.
