Rare 1920 W-UNC Shoulderless Series

1920 W-UNC Shoulderless Series. Looks like the Ruth pop report for PSA/SGC is zero. Out of the 11 baseball players in the set only 1 Cobb REA sale in 2013, 1 Sisler, 1 Speaker have been graded. I did see another image of a Sisler not graded, so maybe 2 of him, and a George Kelly listed here on this board back in 2013. Actors I could not find any info from this set on them?

Sam,

I guarantee you there are two Sislers. I owned two at one time and still own one.

Regarding the actors, according to Wikipedia:

1) Jimmy Aubrey (23 October 1887 – 2 September 1983) was an English actor who worked with both Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, having gone with Fred Karno's theatrical company to America in 1908. However he left to start on his own in vaudeville. He started in comedies, then went on to comedic roles in drama. He appeared in 419 films between 1915 and 1953.

2) Edmund Richard "Hoot" Gibson (August 6, 1892 – August 23, 1962) was an American rodeo champion, film actor, film director, and producer. While acting and stunt work began as a sideline to Gibson's focus on rodeo, he successfully transitioned from silent films to become a leading performer in Hollywood's growing cowboy film industry. During the period between World War I and World War II, he was second only to cowboy film legend Tom Mix as a box office draw. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

3) Joseph Schildkraut (22 March 1896 – 21 January 1964) was an Austrian-American actor. He won an Oscar for his performance as Captain Alfred Dreyfus in the film The Life of Emile Zola (1937); later, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Otto Frank in the film The Diary of Anne Frank (1959) and a Primetime Emmy for his performance as Rabbi Gottlieb in a 1962 episode of the television series Sam Benedict.

It's been a Greenberg kind of month.
No idea why the card got that grade.
Happy also to get an 8x10 photo with playing days auto.

Beautiful Wagner!

Val, I don't know that a Standard Biscuit has been graded though I'm sure you, Steve, Phil, Matt, Dan or someone has a raw one sitting in some binder somewhere.

Definitely the least impressive card in the thread, and technically not even an August pickup since I got it a few weeks ago, but sometimes a card just speaks to you; or as I put it in the BST . . .

. . . I’ve heard that every card has a story; in this case, I’m assuming it’s something like “they tried to scratch his name from the Cyclopean masonry, but it was too late – having been summoned, the non-Euclidean geometry of dread C'rl Rynold-Sothoth emerged slowly from an eldritch mist as purple as Lovecraft's prose, his star-shaped stalks ferociously gripping the many-tentacled bat undulating moistly behind his head.”

I'm feeling a definite Postmodernist vibe to your acquisition, congrats on the pick up.

R304

1 Attachment(s)
Picked this up. R304 Demeree Die - cut. It is fascinating to me that I am able to simply log onto Ebay and shop R304's R301's R337's etc. Some of the rarest cards of the 1930's. Cards that in many cases have only one or two known examples, and are approching 100 years old. .
In the case of R301's and R304's the fact that they are not traditional "cards" prevents them from appearing on many wantlists. But Type collectors and player collectors that take the trouble to track these down are rewarded with cards they will most likely treasure. This is only the second R304 I have owned, the first was a Pete Fox that I purchased from Tom Collier. Found this one on the Bay mislabeled and seemed like a good time to increase my collection of cards to scarce to ever be really valuable.

Hey Phil! Nice E100 pickups. You're working on the set now? I had no idea. Good luck with it my friend.

PHIL have you come across any of the team cards? I found this board following a link to Leon and one of the Biship team premiums he had before his big auction sale. Just one of those things that always draws my interest. Good luck with set..

I was fortunate to pick up the Red San Francisco E221 team card from Ed, Leon and Mark own the rest.
