The Latest Thing

Now on the B/S/T the latest gimmick is to post up some super-whamadyne graded card... with no pictures. The jackass sellers now want you to email for pictures.

Go f yourself! If that's how to generate sales, I hope your f-ing card gets stolen, or spontaneously burns to ashes!

That's kind of dramatic. Just skip over them if you don't like it.

Agree it’s annoying.

Old motto - “Every thread needs a card.”

New motto - “Every thread needs an email address to contact to request to see a card.”

Why does every thread need an email address, if we can just contact each other through a direct message within Net54?

Once you put your email out there, you open yourself up to all sorts of scams coming to your email box.

If there's no photos posted I just skip over the post no matter how interested I may be in the item, but I don't let it upset me. At the end of the day it's just baseball cards.

I thought scammers sometimes will steal card images from listings (here and elsewhere) then use them to try to convince someone they own the card they are trying to falsely sell. Not posting the image would help prevent that. Also, some people don't seem to know how to add images to their posts.

Peter_Spaeth 07-21-2024 09:04 AM

I think jm has always done it that way?

This is so over the top over nothing. What trend? It's no more or less common than it has been for years. If you really want to tell one seller in particular from the last 24 hours to go fuck himself and that he's a jackass for the immense crime of wanting to email pictures, go tell him like a man and skip this public aggressive generalized crap dancing around the person you obviously are actually talking about.

I have still not figured out how to get photos to post from my phone in bst

D. Bergin 07-21-2024 02:28 PM

I’ve discovered since some forum update several months ago, you have to make sure all photos are 2MB or smaller, or they will not upload using the attachments tool. 1.99 goes through. 2.01 gets rejected.

Used to be the forum software would automatically resize anything up to like 5MB or so, down to under 2MB for you, before posting on NET54. For some reason it doesn’t do that anymore. Just rejects it for being too large. Any decent scan or cell phone photo is larger then that nowadays, so I have to resize down just about everything, before posting here.

Are you using the “manage attachments” button?

Generally, pictures from cellphones are too large to post to upload to the forum.
I don't remember the limit to downsize automatically being from 5mb. It's always been about 2mb from what I know.

This is so overly dramatic it makes me laugh.

Also, it’s not that easy to post pictures here. It’s very easy to send an email with a picture…and then it’s easier to converse via email vs PM.

Leon, I used to always post pictures that were originally much larger then 2MB. They would be smaller by the time the “Manage Attachments” tool got done uploading them, but they certainly accepted them into the system without me having to resize them myself.

Not so anymore. I’d guess this happened a couple forum updates ago or so. Maybe in the last 6 months or so, though my timing might be off a bit, one way or another.

You're not alone. I've had the same experience. At some point in the recent past, something changed that made it a lot more difficult to upload pics.

If you've got some gimmicky reason for selling a card that's just too good for the casual customer to see, thus purposely not posting pictures, then my extreme, over the top rant stands.

But if you are having technical difficulties in posting pictures, my rant is not aimed at you.

Sometimes I get pictures that won’t load but often times if I take a screenshot of my picture and trim it up a little bit it’ll load just fine.
