1960s Detroit Tigers Player Paintings Questions
6 Attachment(s)
Hi-
In May, I bought these three paintings of Detroit Tigers players in the 1960s. I have Mickey Lolich, Dick McAuliffe, and one other that I cannot read the last name on the back. Has anyone ever seen other players painted like this? Any idea who painted them and why? I am guessing they were made in honor of the 1968 world series team but I am not sure. Any information about these would be greatly appreciated. Alan |
I am guessing the unknown second player is Jim Northrup judging by the scribbled name.

Any better scan of the name ? Hard to see. Could it be Lumpe from the 1967 Team ?

Lumpe is written to my eye. My guess is these are just an art project done by a school kid.

Thank you guys! Here is a better photo. I do agree these were homemade but I was hoping that someone had some other examples as I assume whoever made these, painted at least a few other players. Given the odd look, it would be interesting to see how the artist depicted Kaline or McLain.
