How do you tell Koester Bread from W575-1 (and W501,etc.)? )

Subject line asks the question - I have been guessing without much knowledge about these issues... anybody have the key?

Thanks,

Tim

Post 21 by Rhett in the above link is the key for Koester identification, while post 30, also by Rhett, briefly goes over the 'G-4-22 and card number at top' and those without this versions of W501, designations originally coined by Rhett as W501-1 and W501-2.

As is obvious, Rhett is the man for these.

Basically…subject, paper, team, etc is the best way to do it.

My understanding is that Rhett is the only one that knows or can tell from the cardstock. Without revisiting the topic myself, I think they are mostly Yankees or NY players from a small blank back release. I mostly steer clear of the blank backs. Other collectors don't give the Koester cards a premium as far as I know. GL whether you go after them. I probably have some without knowing.

Thanks everyone for all that great information!

Teams, some players are only in Koester bread, and thickness of card stock.
