Anyone ever have PSA DNA "likely genuine" opinion fail full authentication???

Well I have now for the first time.....

Bought this very rare Ted postcard spring of 2023. Before I completed the purchase, I did submit for a PSA DNA quick opinion and it came back "likely genuine."

I submitted this for full authentication as part of a recent group sub on another forum and it was my only Ted not to be authenticated.

Anyone ever had luck pushing back on PSA in this situation?

I got a reasonable deal for the postcard, assuming auto was real, and since I've never seen another of these I'll hang on to it, but I am quite disappointed.

I do think it is real ink and not a stamp so not sure of the issue. The reverse postmark is from 1958.

Yep...I've had them then fail in person

Nope, never had it overturned

Sorry, it is the worst!

I'm sure you can find this answer yourself, but regardless of PSA's opinion, you bought this thing over a year ago before deciding to do something more with them/it. Fairly certain any sort of window has passed.

I would say there were right on the full authentication and wrong on the “quick opinion.” The opinions are clear that they do not guarantee passing the full process. Just looks off to me for that time period.

Oh, I knew it would take a bit to submit and it took PSA 7 months to finish order.

It would just seem it would be fair of them to indicate why there was a change in opinion. Item was purchased based on their opinion.

I think it might not be live ink. Here’s the only other one I could find online. Not a big image, but signature looks pretty identical and identically placed.

Sure, it was here. I did a google image search to get this match. Have to scroll down a bit to find the Ted Williams card.

Well, there we have it. Thanks again. I certainly didn't pay $290, but live and learn.

Seller was pretty firm his father got this signed in person in 1958 as a kid ,so clearly that did not happen.

Too bad PSA not as savvy as you in researching.

Certainly not a very common item, it seems. But glad I could help!

The quick opinions are more likely to be looked at by authenticators with not really as much experience as Kevin and Bill who look at the higher end items that need a full letter so they will have a more educated opinion

This was the first time this situation has happened for me. I have had many QO s come back not likely genuine so I've not purchased the item.

I have had Bill look at my items before, but that makes sense that they don't do the QO s.

And clearly here they'd need item in hand to see it was not live ink, which I was clearly mistaken about.

Looks like Ted had a stamp...

They are placed very slightly different, seem to be identical.

Good work, thanks Doug!

As mentioned above, I'd bet that it did not pass the 'live ink' test in person. Hard to make that call from a photo.

It is a really cool piece though, and looks to be pretty scarce also.

Nice pickup.

Thanks, wish I had done a better search (Google image) before sending in to PSA but still happy to have in my Ted collection.
