1969 Topps 461 Epstein question
2 Attachment(s)
I am confused by the 1969 Topps 461 Epstein card. I have one and, for some reason, many years ago notated it as a 461B name in white letters but the last name is in Yellow letters. So I went to eBay to see if I could find out anything. The first two I came to said Name in White Letters and one was even graded by PSA as such but the name is in Yellow letters as mine is. Then I came across several more where the name is actually in white. So what am I missing? Were the first two, including the graded one wrong or is there something else that I am missing? Thanks.

Yeah, PSA has a long history of getting the 1969 Topps White Letter Variations wrong. I did a thread about a while back, but Lord knows what the title of it was. And since scumbaggery reigns supreme on eBay, a lot of people just list the 'regular' versions as variations in the hopes of making some easy coin off the ignorant. That'll never change.
This is what the actual WL variation should look like (I mean, with better centering, of course, I'm not crazy)... Attachment 627254 ETA: Found the (inconsequential) thread... https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=271933 |
Thanks for clearing this up for me. I do not know why those many years ago I listed it as the white letter version when it obviously has yellow letters. Maybe I got a note from the eBay guy who has the PSA 8 Last Name in White when it really is in yellow for $5900 sent me note telling me that :>}. Appreciate your quick response.
