1954 Topps & 1955 Redman Mays signed card question

Hi Autograph experts -
I'm not really a collector of autographs anymore, although I was when I was considerably younger. I suppose due to Willie's birthday, I have had some inquiries regarding two signed Mays cards I got thru the mail in the 1978-1982 era, but I have zero knowledge about their value, and the interwebs haven't been much help. Can anybody here give me any thoughts on what these cards might be "worth"? Thanx in advance, Doug |
Unfortunately, signed by wife.
So, as to value, whatever a marked version of these cards is worth would make sense. |
Bummer, hahaha, so I wasted somewhere between 26 and 36 cents postage!

Mays
Yep, unfortunately we all got those returns back in the day.

I feel for you, Doug. Those would have both looked absolutely incredible with authentic autographs.
Any time you hear a story that includes "Willie Mays" and "through the mail", you're almost always looking at a secretarial situation. Both of Mays' wives signed fan mail on his behalf, with wife #2, Mae, being the most prolific. Mae signed yours. For all intents and purposes, Mays barely EVER replied to any of his own fan mail. When he did, it was extremely early on in his career. |
