1948 Bowman Basketball Box - have you seen one?
 

I've only seen the top of the box and a wrapper but hoping someone here might have a box or have an image of a complete box to show.

or perhaps you have some type of advertising / promotional material that was related to the 1948 Bowman basketball release.

I got into the 48 set about 20+ years ago and have been trying to slowly build a gray set. I have no knowledge of a 48 basketball box known in existence. Even for 1948 baseball, the one box that surfaced in 2017 was the single example known.

There are a couple box toppers and the belief is that the basketball and football sets were in a plain packing box with the header added for counter sales.

Here is a much later 1954 Bowman football box, but exhibits the style I would expect from bowman for basketball or football. Very plain with a header for dime store display

Thanks for great info. This makes a lot of sense as I've only ever seen the "box topppers". It wonder if anyone has example for 48 basketball like you have shown for the 54 football.

I too have been looking for the display box of a 1948 bowman basketball for 35 years and only heard a rumor of 1-2 with a guy that has no need to ever sell it or willing to share the photo with our hobby. I frankly have never talked with someone who can describe it. I have every other pack, display box, wrapper so this would be awesome!!

Its a shame that he won't share with the community. it would be amazing to see such a historical item.

Still, incredible for you to have every other box, pack and wrapper.
